Quinoa with Turkey

What was YOUR Dinner?!

This is Quinoa with low sodium nitrate-free turkey breast (check your local grocery store) sliced really THICK at the deli meat counter and then cut into cubes at home to put in recipes (a tip we learned from @robbinsanity) with salsa, tomatoes, and nonfat plain Greek yogurt which is pretending to be my sour cream! Baby spinach on the side.

It was straight money.

Time to Crush It

What’s your workout today? Don’t procrastinate! Get it done!

And all day with your eating choices, just remember how hard you work to see results.

Travel Solutions

When you’re traveling and in hotels, at airports, etc., you can usually get lettuce and veggies from most ANY restaurant or customize one of the salads on the menu.

Skip the cheese, the nuts (because they’re almost ALWAYS butter or sugar-coated), the croutons, the side of bread, bacon bits, the dressing it comes with, etc. Nothing wrong with the occasional loaded salad, this is just for those trying to stay on track while traveling and having to eat out at every meal.  I scale it down to the veggies and ask if I can add a PLAIN grilled chicken breast as a side for my protein on top.

But if they are adding high sodium lunch meats, or pre-cooked chicken loaded with high-sodium marinades, then I just add my low sodium single-serve tuna packet I carry in my purse as I did pictured here with the in-room dining garden salad EVERY DAY from the MGM Grand last week. I don’t eat this tuna daily but it works in a bind! I ask super politely to customize and offer to pay extra.

Food to Go!

At a State baseball tournament and there’s no healthy food in sight, but I carry low sodium tuna in my purse (as well as Shakeology, almonds and an apple) just for these situations.

A local sub shop put the veggies together for me (if you ask nicely, most places will make a non-menu meal). And they of course had lunch meat but that is SO high in sodium. I hate feeling so bloated from high sodium foods, not to mention it’s unhealthy. Salad dressing was vinegar and oil.

Don’t be fooled…

You like?! I did in fact have a momentary thought of drowning this in hot fudge and topping it with whip cream! But I don’t have either one! Discipline is 90% what you have accessible and the situations you put yourself in.

Trust me, this nonfat Greek Yogurt, sweetened with Stevia and topped with strawberries and pine nuts was a DELISH snack as is! Get used to energy fuel instead comfort food!

That inner voice…

What was your workout today? I almost convinced myself it was too late, but instead I fit in a 40-minute spin and felt awesome! So glad I didn’t listen to the other voice.

It’s sometimes hard to know if you truly need the rest because that inner voice can be tricky! I get started anyway. In the rare occasion I feel really awful, I’ll stop, but once the music is going and the endorphins are flowin’, I’m almost always good to go and happy I did!

Hot Chocolate Oatmeal

Hot Chocolate Oatmeal with superfoods added?!  Um, yes please!!! Perfect for a BUSY cold rainy day!!

I’m sure this would work too with old fashioned oats, steel cut oats, etc. Cooking Shakeology diminishes nutrient content, but adding it to warm oatmeal is a go!! This is 2 packages Kashi all-natural Instant Oatmeal (honey & cinnamon flavor), add water until it’s VERY soup-like, heat 1 minute until hot and add 1/2 scoop chocolate Shakeology.

If it’s too thick, add more hot water. DELISH! 24g protein & 380 calories. With half banana and sliced almond toppings, more like 450 calories 🙂

Massage Treat

I apologize if I’m late returning a message/email/text. This week has been CRAZY busy but VERY productive so I treated myself to a massage! I’m always so bummed when it’s over though!

No Excuses

When Jen Delvaux and I realized the hotel fitness room was packed this morning, we hit the stairs!! 14 floors, 6 times! Just enough time for the fitness room to clear so we could get our lift on.

Edudating children’s taste buds

Ty Trying some new fruits. Their taste buds are CONSTANTLY changing so don’t give up trying but I also think it helps to educate them so that they just WANT to eat healthier instead of just forcing it. Wouldn’t you agree?
