7 Steps to goal setting

Years ago I went to one of my first personal development conferences at the suggestion of my big sis Chalene .. it was a Brian Tracy conference. I just found my notes & I definitely followed this to a T! 🎯

Thought I’d share! Does it help??

7 Steps to goal setting:⁣
1. Decide EXACTLY what you want⁣
2. Write it down, only top 3% write it down ⁣
3. Set a deadline & sub deadlines⁣
4. Make a list of everything you have to do to achieve your goal⁣
5. Organize the list by sequence & priority⁣
6. Take action immediately with NO guarantee of success. If you want to hit a bullseye, throw more darts!!!⁣
7. Do something scary EVERY DAY

Start acting on what you DO have

🤦🏼‍♀️I’m so awkward
🤦🏼‍♀️My life is too boring to be interesting
🤦🏼‍♀️___is probably talking behind my back
🤦🏼‍♀️I hate how I look/sound

How I felt starting this business and getting on social media. I hear it from my new coaches now. I can promise you they’re all normal thoughts.

I can also promise you they’re all ego and fear talking. None of it’s relevant.

You started on this endeavor because you knew, deep down, you had something to offer.

It’s time to stop dwelling on what you don’t have, and start acting on what you DO have🤜🏼🤛🏼

Any REALLY inspirational person you know also had a rough start BUT THEY ENDURED it… hence the label “inspirational” 😉

Be that person for someone else.

Just START

Right?!?! I hear it all the time & I say it too.

I could literally put as part of my bio “this week is nuts” and it would always be true☺️💯

But let’s stop kidding ourselves.. when we tell ourselves “I’ll start once things slow down” ..I mean things CHANGE yes, but usually life is NOT gonna slow down. There’s ALWAYS unexpected twists & turns.

☝🏼So just START.

It’s like having a baby.. are you ever REALLY ready for that life change? (don’t answer that if you’re 39 weeks pregnant & losing sleep ☝🏼😂) But otherwise, no. But we MAKE time for what’s important to us☝🏼😉

SERIOUSLY ..it’s a problemmm😂.

I’m guilty.

What would your life look like if you said “I’m just gonna DO IT” ..more often in the last 5 years?! Where would you be now? What do you regret NOT doing?

Aside from first praying on it, here are 5 steps that have helped me …
.
1.) Make a list of pro’s & cons
2.) Talk to honest, positive open minded people in the thick of it
3.) What’s the impact of NOT doing it- mentally, physically, financially
4.) Is it something that moves you closer to who you want to be and how you want your day-to-day life to FEEL?
5.) How will it positively or negatively impact your family?

It comes from a place of fear and insecurity. Don’t let that intimidating person make you feel SMALL!

I use to have a boss like this & I had high anxiety the moment she walked into the office😨 I can’t IMAGINE *wanting* to make people around you feel uncomfortable! It’s BIZARRE to me!

But kill ‘em with your confidence and kindness☺️

Once you understand it’s THEM & not you, they lose their intimidation over you! Right?!☝🏼😉

How do you deal with nay sayers?

1. love proving them wrong or do you 2️. fall prey to internalizing their words??

Be honest☝🏼

It’s kinda CRAZY to me how much others’ opinions – a friend, a spouse, a co-worker- impact our perspective and decisions …and then OUR LIVES. I wouldn’t be where I am today had I listened to so many nay sayers when I started this business. They were uninformed non-dreamer types who also don’t know my drive and work ethic.

Thank God I knew enough to check FACTS & then just get to work!

“Well good luck with THAT” was fuel to my fire🔥They didn’t know the hurdles I’ve overcome in the past and what I can accomplish if I get focused!

Are YOU letting others put a cap on your potential?! Or… is it YOU that’s having trouble seeing it?

Feel the emotion and deal with the situation

Ever see an email, DM or text that causes you even the slightest anxiety so you head straight to the pantry or fridge to find comfort food?? 👩‍💻🍫

Yes?! Something crunchy, maybe sweet?!

I’ve done that SO many times🙋🏼‍♀️ Obviously the answer isn’t in another snack/treat/drink (whatever your indulgence is).

I’ve learned to stop WALKING AWAY (towards food) and instead feel the emotion and just deal with the situation as best I can …& give myself permission to do so imperfectly… because I don’t always know the RIGHT/BEST way and that’s OK. Right?!

Procrastination isn’t my friend and unfortunately chips & guac won’t solve the problem!☺️ You with me on this??

Have you ever taken an Enneagram test?? What number are you? I’m a 5.. with some “wings” of some other numbers🤷🏼‍♀️ (I’m new to this, ok!?😆)

Sometimes I wish I was a Psychologist so I could understand human behavior better.. even my own, maybe ESPECIALLY my own!

If you’re going to lead others, you’ll do better if you understand your own tendencies, weaknesses, strengths & motivations as well as understand how DIFFERENT all of those can be for others! SO INTERESTING TO ME!

Don’t Take This for Granted

No, I’m not one of those fit pro’s with 6-pack abs or thigh gap …& it would be cool to be able to follow that statement with “but I can squat 200lbs!!” but ..I can’t do that either… not even close☺️. My approach is overall balance of feeling healthy and happiness more-so than fitness. I just happen to enjoy a really athletic tough workout! Gives me a high, makes me feel ALIVE.

I actually DID have a thigh gap once (in my ballet years) & I never want to go back to what that required for *my* body. NEVER. I’m inspired by women of ALL shapes and sizes for who they ARE & what they do with what they HAVE 💥💥💥 I see overcoming struggle & finding solutions as SUPER inspirational and that looks different on all of us.

LISTEN..don’t you dare take for granted that each day you’re given a chance to improve🤸🏼‍♂️

Fitness is SO MUCH FUN if you shift your mindset to “what can my body do?” vs “how much does it weigh?” “how does it compare?”

Can I get an AMEN?!

Aggressive Goals Require Aggressive Discipline

Agreed?

I recently heard on a podcast that one of the most valuable assets you can have today is the discipline to stay FOCUSED!

Would you agree?? When I need to really concentrate, it’s a waste of time and effort if I’m multitasking. So I have to completely seclude myself from all interruptions, no phone, no notifications, no sounds, etc. It may require waking up an hour earlier.

It’s NOT easy to create that “space” but I can get 10x more done in a small pocket of time when I do.

You’ve got to be disciplined in CREATING focused time to crush your goals!

The uninterrupted time is not just gonna fall in our laps! Something’s gonna have to give! Am I right ?! 😉
