Food to Go!

At a State baseball tournament and there’s no healthy food in sight, but I carry low sodium tuna in my purse (as well as Shakeology, almonds and an apple) just for these situations.

A local sub shop put the veggies together for me (if you ask nicely, most places will make a non-menu meal). And they of course had lunch meat but that is SO high in sodium. I hate feeling so bloated from high sodium foods, not to mention it’s unhealthy. Salad dressing was vinegar and oil.

Don’t be fooled…

You like?! I did in fact have a momentary thought of drowning this in hot fudge and topping it with whip cream! But I don’t have either one! Discipline is 90% what you have accessible and the situations you put yourself in.

Trust me, this nonfat Greek Yogurt, sweetened with Stevia and topped with strawberries and pine nuts was a DELISH snack as is! Get used to energy fuel instead comfort food!

Just moved into a new cottage and we haven’t ordered cable yet, or a couch… but got the

Hot Chocolate Oatmeal

Hot Chocolate Oatmeal with superfoods added?!  Um, yes please!!! Perfect for a BUSY cold rainy day!!

I’m sure this would work too with old fashioned oats, steel cut oats, etc. Cooking Shakeology diminishes nutrient content, but adding it to warm oatmeal is a go!! This is 2 packages Kashi all-natural Instant Oatmeal (honey & cinnamon flavor), add water until it’s VERY soup-like, heat 1 minute until hot and add 1/2 scoop chocolate Shakeology.

If it’s too thick, add more hot water. DELISH! 24g protein & 380 calories. With half banana and sliced almond toppings, more like 450 calories 🙂

Toasted English Muffin

You like?! It’s a *toasted* Ezekiel English muffin (not all stores carry them but check your freezer section…they’re the BEST), with low sodium tuna mixed with nonfat plain Greek yogurt and spicy mustard, avocado slices, romaine lettuce and tomato!

Purple to Turbo

Why is there ALWAYS a traffic jam when I’m late for a flight?!? Anyway, wear Purple to Turbo tonight  I’m wearing Purple to be with you all in spirit! Do lots of turbos’s… back to back!

Hollowbacks and Shakeology

Jen Delvaux and I had a choice …go out to dinner? Or have Shakeology and practice hollowbacks? Shakeology and hollowbacks… HANDS DOWN (literally).

Grocery Shopping Tips

Going grocery shopping? Just a reminder to prepare fruits and veggies ahead of time. Wash and cut them as soon as you get home so they’re handy for salads, wraps, egg whites, shakes, on-the-go snacks, etc. Don’t buy the processed chips, cereals, pretzels, granola bars and microwaveable meals or anything you KNOW throws you off.

Pre-portion anything that comes in a bag or container with multiple servings (like nuts!). Start gradually transitioning the whole family. Believe me, I know it’s tough with young picky eaters. But don’t give up and be creative to make it work! It makes SUCH a difference to start eating cleaner–not just for abs and building muscle but also to avoid deficiencies, illnesses, aid digestion, skin, hair, and ENERGY … Just to name a few 😉

Powdered Peanut Butter

Have you tried this yet? I’ve been using it. “Just Great Stuff” (peanuts crushed into powder) in my Shakeology for the last several months. It’s organic and seems to have cleaner ingredients than PB2. You can get it at some grocery stores or BettyLousInc.com and it comes in Chocolate too. I think it’s pricier on Amazon.

It’s not for everyone. PB has nutritional value, no one would argue that. But if you have a PB ADDICTION (3 tablespoons is a TEASE to me yet it’s 300 calories and that’s almost = to 1 of my small meals by itself) then this might be worth trying. My hubby is 6’6″ and works out like CRAZY; he can have his PB daily (Jealous!).

But this is great on Ezekiel toast and also for your post-lifting protein shake where you need to avoid PB as the fat content slows the protein delivery to your muscles. It only has 45 calories and 2g sugar per serving. Has 4g less protein than natural PB, but I can get that in 1 extra bite of turkey or chicken 🙂

Grilling Out

This was straight money $$$! It was the perfect night and weather to grill out:) This is grilled Mahi Mahi, grilled asparagus and the salad has pears, raspberries and reduced fat feta on spinach and spring mix. I used a little oil and vinegar for dressing. Props to the grillmaster! (My husband)
